Good afternoon, Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic School Parents. What a great Golf Tournament yesterday. Thank you to all of the businesses and players that supported our school with our second annual Golf Tournament. I enjoyed seeing all of you having a great time playing golf and supporting the school. I hope that next year I will actually be able to play.

• Children’s Mass on October 13th at the 10:00 am Mass.

• Mark your calendar! Harvest Festival is coming October, 11, 2024 from 5:00 to 7:30. We need volunteers to make this Harvest Festival a success. See the flyer below to purchase tickets. • We're. excited to bring back the Charleston Wrap Fundraiser this holiday season. It's a great way to check off some of those people on your list. Keep an eye out for the catalog in a couple of weeks. The fundraiser will run from October 28th-November8th! 

• If you are interested in a volunteer opportunity, then we have a position for you. The school is in need of supervision during lunch and lunch recess. If you can help, please email me at [email protected]

• We started our community service project October 1, 2024. We are accepting coats, socks, underwear, hygiene items, or other clothing to be donated to the Bethlehem Inn. They informed me that they are in desperate need of men’s clothing items and hygiene items, but will accept any gently used clothing.

• Family Game Night, October 25, 2024, 6:00 - 8:00 pm in the school gym. Dinner provided by the Knights of Columbus. The cost is $8 per person or $ 30 per family. Bring your favorite board game or card game. Parish families are also invited to this event.

• School Advisory Committee meeting in E15, 5:00 - 6:00 pm.

• Middle School’s next cross country meet is 4:00 pm October 10th at Cascades Academy

• Middle School Boys Basketball signup deadline is approaching. We have four boys signed up. The Parks and Recreation would like us to have a total of eight players. If we do not reach eight players they will find a place for our players or find players to fill out our team. Here is the link.

Volunteer Opportunities

• The Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLOW) is looking for volunteers to teach or lead this ministry on Sundays during the 10:00 mass. The time spent volunteering for this ministry will count toward your volunteer hours for the school. Please email me and I will pass your information on to the leader of this ministry.

• Littlefoot run: Grades K - 5 join BPRD and Central Oregon Running Club (CORK) on October 2nd for this classic event! Runners will participate in races of varying lengths (depending on age group) and will get a chance to run with high school cross-country athletes. Register before the race near the concession stand walkway, closest to the Yellow Field. Be sure to dress for the weather. Registration is 3:00 - 3:30. Race time is 3:35 See flyer below.

Good afternoon, Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic School Parents. This week I relearned how to play capture the flag and had an opportunity to play the game with the fourth graders during lunch. We had a great time. 

Today, I received an email from a High School Student that is willing to coach our Lego robotics team. All we need is a parent to be there to assist him and be the adult responsible for the team. I believe he pretty much runs the club, the parent is there to assist with supervision.

On September 30th we will have a free dress day. Just a friendly reminder, please check the dress code, and always dress for success.

New This Week

• I wanted to let you all know that next week September 9th -13th Superior Concrete Restoration is going to be doing the concrete resurfacing on the sidewalks located on the northside of the school and the dumpster area. This means the north exterior doors between the school band room and choir room will not be accessible. as well as the north exterior doors from the community center (Gym) to the dumpster area. The dumpsters and recycling bins are going to be moved to a location in the parking lot.

• Middle School parents, if your student is interested in participating in cross country please let me know as soon as possible.

• We already had a student leave their sweatshirt on the playground. The sweatshirt did not have a name in it. Please label your child’s water bottle, and any outer wear they may be bringing to school (i.e., sweatshirts, coats, etc.). If these items are left in the cafeteria, or playground, then we will be able to return them to your child.

Smartwatches
Many students wear watches that can access apps on their phone. Students are not permitted to use a smartwatch to access mobile apps or the Internet, or to send and receive messages (text or call) during class periods. Elementary and middle school students are not permitted to use smartwatches for those purposes anytime during the school day.

Violations

Students who violate these rules are subject to disciplinary action, including surrendering their phone or device to the school office until the end of the day. After repeated violations, a student’s phone or device will be held until a parent or guardian picks it up at the office.

We recognize that it can be challenging to manage personal device expectations throughout the school year. We are committed to working with students, families, teachers and administrators to meet these expectations and provide the best learning environment we can.

Good morning, Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic School Parents. Welcome to a new school year. I am very excited about this school year and cannot wait to see all the students Tuesday morning. I feel like a little child on Christmas Morning.

I wanted to send out a revised calendar, because I was just informed that there is a Diocese training for teachers that is scheduled on October 11th. As a result, I have made a few changes to the calendar. Also, the first day of school we will not have hot lunch, please provide your student with a lunch from home. You may send your student with a snack.

Remember when you are dropping your K – 8th grade student off for school, the drop off is by the parish offices. If you are going to get out of your vehicle, please park in a designated parking area. Your student will go immediately to the gym/cafeteria and sit with their class. Preschool/Prekindergarten – when you drop off your student please park your vehicle in a designated parking area, then walk your student to their appropriate classroom. You will not need to sign in at the office if you are only dropping off your student.

We're excited to announce that we have moved our Spirit Shop to a local company, In the Zone Ink. Please purchase all of your Spirit Wear, Uniform Sweatshirts, Polo Shirts, and Accessories on this site. The school will not keep any inventory on site except our trucker hats, mugs, and bumper/car decals. All orders will be delivered and distributed at the school by the third week in September. Samples of all spirit wear will be on display at the BooHoo Breakfast and will remain on display in the main office until September 11th.
